Law Roach exuded joy at the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards — which the former stylist, who virally retired in March, attributed to his own independence.
“I just felt like I’m living my life for me now,” Roach exclusively told FN on the red carpet. “Now I just feel like I’m finally living for me, because I just poured so much into what I did and my clients and, sleepless nights and chasing, FedExing dresses — and I’m not doing that right now. I’m not saying that I may never do it again. But right now, these last eight months I’ve been soul-searching and just…the only way I can say it is I’m truly, purely happy.”
During the Awards, which celebrate the accomplishments of designers, celebrities and more in the American fashion industry, Roach made a dynamic statement in a Luar coat dress, Calvin Klein briefs and reptilian boots while embracing his new career era. Alongside his bold fashion moment, the FNAA-winning star also shared his appreciation for sustainability in fashion.
“I’m proud of the kids thrifting and wearing vintage clothing and that being a trend, and everybody’s not rushing out to buy something new,” Roach said. “I’ve been championing archival dresses and vintage dresses for so long and so heavily in my career, and now I feel like it’s at the forefront of fashion — and I just love it. Upcycling and recycling, I think that’s the easiest way to be sustainable.”

The fashion stars were aligned — and on the red carpet — for the CFDA Awards this year.
The annual occasion took the American Museum of Natural History by storm while celebrating the achievements of designers, celebrities and more in the American fashion industry. Hosted by Anne Hathaway, the occasion drew an array of stars across design, film, music and more, including Karlie Kloss, Sergio Hudson, Ayo Edibiri, Christian Siriano and Diane von Furstenberg, among numerous others.
Where the dress code was concerned, attendees served a contemporary approach to red-carpet formality — from double denim to feathers, pops of neon and more — paired with sleek heels, sharp boots and more stylish shoe statements.
Jane Krakowski arrived in a sheer Cynthia Rowley minidress covered in colorful feather-lined flowers, which she elevated with a soaring pair of platform sandals. Rowley herself matched Krakowski in chunky reptile-printed platforms, which boosted a maxi dress with a denim bodice and long black skirt.
Anne Hathaway — who served as host of the Awards — boldly arrived in a Ralph Lauren outfit bringing a dramatic formality to double-denim. The “Princess Diaries” star wore a toile-print denim bustier, complete with a contrasting printed denim maxi skirt and glittering Bulgari jewelry.
Designer Sergio Hudson popped on the red carpet in a vibrant neon green coat, which he layered over a smooth black sweater and long trousers. Black boots and a gleaming gold watch added a dapper finish to his ensemble.
Diane von Furstenberg made a sweet entrance with her granddaughter, Talita von Furstenberg. Both designers wore printed black maxi dresses for the occasion; Talita’s featured a puff-sleeved silhouette with romantic floral prints, while Diane paired her red and pink polka-dotted number with black sandals and gleaming gold jewelry.
Coco Rocha soared on the red carpet in a pair of satin platform pumps, which complemented her pale pink and black dress by Christian Siriano. Siriano matched Rocha in an all-black shirt, trousers and cropped waistcoat, paired with glossy black block-heeled boots.
Nicky Hilton made a sharp pair with Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet on the red carpet. Both style stars wore flowing Alice + Olivia ensembles for the occasion; Hilton paired her red tiered number with diamond earrings and a bow-shaped Judith Lieber clutch, while Bendet opted for vintage glamour in a black corseted style with a bejeweled choker and sparkling headband.
Designer Kenneth Cole was sharply outfitted in all-black for the Awards, arriving in a blazer, bow tie and buttoned shirt tucked into dark black jeans. The FNAA-winning designer completed his look with a pair of black leather lace-up boots for a polished finish.

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) turned into a star-studded designer affair for the institution’s 2023 Art + Film Gala, with Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Rosé, Salma Hayek, Lupita Nyong’o, and more A-Listers stunting on the red carpet Saturday night.
The gala honored two L.A. art legends, Chicana muralist Judy Baca and filmmaker David Fincher and was co-chaired by LAMCA trustee Eva Chow and actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Gucci came on once again as the presenting partner of the event—and glamoursly dressed many of its attendees—and Audi offered additional support, with some guests arriving in their Q8 e-tron.
In true Paris Hilton fashion, she was bedazzled from head to toe. She wore shimmery, bedazzled cream pointy-toe mules which featured crystals that sparkled silver and blue to perfectly match her intricately sequined Jenny Packham v-neck cape-sleeve Lovebird gown. Her shoes peeked out from the dress adorned in turquoise and silver beads and silver crystals, including a crystal belt detailing. She paired it with large diamond studs and her large engagement ring and a sleek, voluminous high pony. Hilton attended the gala with her parents Kathy and Richard Hilton and her husband Carter Reum.
Black Pink’s Rosé looked fun and fresh in Saint Laurent. Styled by Park Se Jun, Rose wore the French luxury house’s black patent Anouk square pointy-toe pumps with four-and-half-inch heels, sheer black tights and a one-shoulder floral mini dress. The ruched material featured yellow, green and blue flowers on a brown background, which she paired with a black patent leather purse with a gold clasp opening, black nails and her blond hair half-up.
Supermodel Heidi Klum clearly knows how to stand out and takes being the life of the party seriously. Her shoes were very on trend: fully clear pointy-toe pumps showing off her coral red pedicure. Her fun dress from Lever Couture gave the appearance of being covered in party streamers, creating a flouncy, plunging top and a floor-length skirt with side cut-outs provided by a clear latex skirt. Her long pointy nails matched her toes, and she completed the look with her hair down and large, circular diamond earrings and her hair sleek and pulled back.
“Grown-ish” star Yara Shahidi served a very glam, modern update on ladies who lunch. She wore Gucci, including mahogany patent leather pointy-toe slingback pumps with silver chain-detailed straps. She paired them with a perfectly coordinating Bamboo 1947 Mini Top Handle bag, featuring the Italian luxury label’s classic lacquered bamboo accents at the clasp and handle. The standout piece of her look was a bedazzled micro-mini skirt fringed with chandelier crystals. She paired it with an oversized white button-down blouse with tie detailing and delicate chandelier diamond earrings.
British actor and model Jodie Turner-Smith shined in glitzy Gucci. She opted for strappy black patent heeled sandals featuring crisscross straps at the ankle. She paired this with a long black skirt with a high slit and a silver crystal square-neck bra top and silver and diamond bangle bracelets. Her silver holographic pedicure and long pointy nails, glossy lip and smoky, shimmery eyes and long braids down her back brought the glowing glam together perfectly
Kim Kardashian brought electric glamor to the LACMA last night. The tip of her ultra-pointy Balenciaga Knife black calfskin pumps peeked out from the endless fabric of her hot pink satin Balenciaga 52nd Couture collection dress. The head-turning backless bustier floor-length dress featured a voluminous train that followed her as she walked. She paired it with black opera gloves, a sparkling Lorraine Schwartz diamond necklace, a smoky eye and nude lip and her hair pulled back into a sleek pony.
Icona Pop — the dance pop duo composed of Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt — appeared as performers and presenters at the 2023 Streamy Awards. On the red carpet, the pair took a moment to chat about their new music ventures — including recording their upcoming album, “Club Romantech,” during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I thought maybe this is the pandemic will last forever — it was a scary time…it was like a therapy session,” Jawo shared with FN. “A lot of times, when you get bored, you also find the space for your creativity.”
The duo also spoke to their edgy, dynamic outfits for the occasion — Jawo’s featured a vintage Givenchy dress and Maison Margiela pumps, while Hjelt opted for a cutout Attico minidress with spike-studded Ottolinger sandals. While performing their songs “I Love It” and “Fall in Love,” both stars later swapped their attire for glitzy Swarovski crystal outfits.
“We like to be very playful, we like…depending on what mode you’re in when you perform, but we have some different options,” Jawo said. “But then just something you can move in…it’s the main thing, because sometimes you come out and I’ve had high heels and I just stand there and look stiff. I’d rather be in really bad clothes, but still move.”
“Or be in a very short skirt,” Hjelt added. “I’ve done that mistake, then it’s better to have shorts — and at least you can go down and you can do your thing. But the worst part is when you’re standing there, just pulling [the skirt] down.”
As the duo have just passed the tenth anniversary of their musical breakout in 2012, they’re also musing on how raver fashion has changed around the world — particularly at festivals like Coachella and Burning Man.
“I think it varies from climate when it comes to fashion now, because it’s so many different things going on,” Jawo said. “People mix and match, and people wear very unexpected things…if you look at people at Burning Man or [at] Coachella, you’re like, ‘Oh, wow.’ If I would go to a festival in a colder country, I thought it would be wellies.”
“I remember the first time we came [to Coachella] with no makeup, jeans, shorts, a T-shirt, just to listen to music,” Hjelt added. “And then we came there and realize that people have [a] glam squad…this must be the wrong place. Like, wow, we were thinking more like Kate Moss at Glastonbury—that’s, for us, a festival look.”

Since 1993, the ESPY Awards have brought together the biggest names in sports, from LeBron James to Mohammad Ali. Other stars have graced the red carpet, too, including Donald Trump and Halle Berry, who both attended the very first show in New York.
The ESPYS originally took place in New York before it moved to Las Vegas in 2000 and 2001. Memorable guests those years included MLB player Mark McGwire, golfer Tiger Woods, USWNT stars Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain and Julie Foudy. The event then moved to Los Angeles for the remainder of its run — with the exception of the 2021 show, which took place in New York once again.
Hosts through the years have included Samuel L. Jackson, LeBron James, Justin Timberlake, Drake, Seth Meyers and more. Last year, NBA star Stephen Curry took on hosting duties. This year, however, the ESPY Awards will be hostless for the first time in its three decades of operation.
On Wednesday in L.A., the star-studded ceremony will recognize athletic achievements, honor leading athletes, and feature musical performances from Lil Wayne and H.E.R. Nominees at the 2023 ESPY Awards include New York Yankee Aaron Judge, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, soccer star Lionel Messi, WNBA player Candace Parker, among many others.

The 2023 ESPYS will broadcast live from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 12 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on ABC.
Katelyn Jae attended the 58th Academy Of Country Music Awards on May 11 in Frisco, Texas. Jae was accompanied by her husband, the “Good as You“ singer Kane Brown.
Opting for a high-shine appearance, Jae wore a black and silver dress comprised of a shiny, triangular and strappy halter-style bralette with bow tie detailing that wrapped around her waist. Following a circular cutout just below the shiny bodice, the dress transitioned into a formal-looking high-waisted silky black skirt that swept the floor.
Much like Jae’s application, formal dresses, depending on the brand, are usually floor-length, sparkling and fitted and are often worn for a variety of high-profile situations like red-carpet events or weddings.
On the accessories front, the singer toted a rectangular rhinestoned mini bag with a short black leather strap worn with a plethora of coordinating dainty silver rings. As for her hair, Jae sported her blond tresses in a curled half-up half-down style with face-framing bangs. Her hair was sectioned off with a dainty black bow.
Flattering her feet, Jae stepped out in dazzling silver ankle boots. The pair was comprised of pointed toes and blindingly shiny uppers that reflected the flash of cameras. The pair weren’t fully visible thanks to the hem of her dress, however, it is likely they were finished with stiletto or block heels in a manageable size that allowed Jae to traverse the black carpet without issue.

Scoot Henderson made a high-shine appearance at the 2023 NBA Draft held at the Barclays Center in New York tonight.
The athlete was outfitted in a crystalized blazer that was made by Henderson’s sister China Henderson-Peters, owner of the fashion brand Mix of Luxe, with help from made-to-measure menswear retailer Indochino. The one-of-one suit was black and heavily bedazzled with over 600 gemstones representing Henderson’s family.
The shiny appliques and colorful stones were hand-sewn by Georgia-based seamstress Orinthia Carter. Each decorative flourish spanned the length of Henderson’s arms, down the front and lapels of the jacket and on the back and shoulders, making for a dazzling fashion spectacle. The tailored jacket was worn overtop a black button-down and styled alongside plain black pleated trousers.
Along with his eye-catching look, Henderson had colorful grills on that flawlessly matched the stone work on his jacket, tying the look all together.
On the footwear front, the star athlete sported a pair of striking black leather boots. The style was comprised of black leather uppers and pointed silver-capped toes stacked atop short square-toed heels that offered Henderson a conservative boost.
A go-to shoe style for many, ankle boots are extremely versatile shoes that can feature a variety of heel styles. Boots that stop at the ankle can be practical, dressy, casual, minimal, showy and more.
The 2023 NBA Draft takes place on June 22 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn New York. It is the 77th edition of the NBA’s annual event and consists of 58 picks instead of their usual 60. Some of the biggest names in basketball graced the red-carpeted occasion including Amen Thompson and Ausar Thompson, Scoot Henderson, Brandon Miller, Gradey Dick, Kobe Bufkin, Olivier-Maxence Prosper and Jalen Hood-Schifino among others.
