Hello, moto! The Lyst Index’s Q3 2024 report on fall’s hottest fashion buys launched today, and it confirms the skyrocketing popularity of the fashionable motorcycle boot trend. There’s one moto boot in particular that’s earned a shout out: the fashion insider-loved Ganni Black Mid Shaft Biker Boot.

For boot fanatics, this comes as no surprise. Ganni’s popular boot selection is a trend in its own right, where the search term has garnered over 3.4 million dedicated reviews and outfit idea video posts on TikTok. The brand also boasts a long list of A-list fans from Michelle Obama to Beyoncé to Taylor Swift and CharliXCX, along with other trendsetters like Bella Hadid, Miley Cyrus, and Kendall Jenner who are regularly seen in fashionable Ganni boots — be it the brand’s bold combat boots or embroidered cowboy boots. The Ganni Mid Shaft Biker Boot has been trending as far back as late 2023, with celebs like Katy Perry and Emily Ratajkowski most recently wearing them in their off-duty street style with flowing frocks and distressed leather jackets.

Moto boots with hardware and harnesses have been one of the largest footwear trends of 2024 for their versatile ability to transition between seasons and offer an edgy attitude to any outfit. The trending style has been stomping across the runways for several years, too, whether on Miu Miu’s Fall 2022 runway adorned with leg-scaling buckles, or, for fall 2024, in bold bootie silhouettes at Loewe, slouchy leather at Coach, or knee-skimming proportions at Valentino. The biker boot’s resurgence from the 2010s arrives in tandem with similar fall fashion trends from the boho-chic and indie sleaze eras: Think feminine silhouettes and textures like lace and silk that balance out the biker boots’ hefty hardware.

The beauty of the Ganni Mid Shaft Biker Boot is that it serves as a chameleon for any style perspective. Crafted in buttery-smooth luxe leather, its tubular calf-length shaft hits the perfect length for tucking in baggy jeans or layering with other fall staples like knit tights and knee-high socks. Plus, pull tabs allow easy and quick slip-on convenience, while adjustable buckles provide a snug and secure fit for autumnal adventures from the city streets to the pumpkin patch.

As of today, Ganni’s Mid Shaft Biker Boots are still in stock — but likely not for long. This top-coveted style is bound to be a hot commodity this holiday season, so act fast to snag a pair in your size.

The Puma Speedcat Is the Hottest Sneaker in the World, According to Lyst https://footwearnews.com/shoes/sneaker-news/puma-speedcat-worlds-hottest-sneaker-lyst-1234723948/ Wed, 23 Oct 2024 16:03:36 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1234723948 If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Footwear News may receive an affiliate commission.

Formula 1 has helped give Puma the hottest sneaker in the world.

The red Puma Speedcat was named the third hottest product overall in the Lyst Index for the third quarter of 2024, which covers the summer. It’s the lone sneaker on the list of ten products and the second most popular footwear entry, behind only the Alaïa Fishnet Ballet Flat at first overall. Two other shoes appeared in the top ten, with Ganni’s Mid Shaft Biker Boot and Clarks Original’s Wallabees at sixth and ninth, respectively. The only other product appearing ahead of the Speedcat is the Coach Suede Brooklyn Shoulder Bag.

Debuted in 1998 as a sneaker for Formula 1 races, the Speedcat was reconfigured as the Speedcat LS, short for lifestyle, in 2021. The heavier marketing push and latest OG relaunch from Puma, however, hadn’t come until this year. The red colorway singled out by Lyst is the best invocation of the shoe’s F1 roots and has been photographed on celebrities including Emily Ratajkowski, who’s also worn the sneaker a number of times in other colorways, and Dua Lipa.

All colorways of the Speedcat are sold out on Puma’s website, while limited sizes can be found through third-party retailers including Kith and End. Clothing. Lyst says demand for the sneaker grew by 532 percent in August, and its reports are informed by searches on and off its platform, as well as product views, sales and social media behavior.

The Speedcat’s ascent comes after years of low-profile sneakers, the most prominent being the Adidas Samba, trending — as well as a spike in popularity for Formula 1, which recently entered into a new partnership with Puma after years of the German brand aligning with individual teams. A$AP Rocky serves as creative director for Puma’s Formula 1 line, and many of his own Puma sneakers have carried automotive references.

Fireproof versions of the Speedcat were first made for Formula 1 drivers in 1998, with the sneaker going on sale to the public a year later without flame-retardant properties.

In 2024 Q1 and Q2, Lyst named the Miu Miu x New Balance 530 SL, another thin-soled sneaker, and the Loewe x On Cloudtilt 2.0 as the hottest shoes, respectively.

Loewe x On’s Cloudtilt 2.0 Sneaker Was the ‘Hottest’ Shoe in Q2, According to Lyst https://footwearnews.com/business/business-news/loewe-on-cloudtilt-sneaker-hottest-shoe-lyst-2024-q2-1203667866/ Wed, 24 Jul 2024 10:00:00 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203667866 If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Footwear News may receive an affiliate commission.

On x Loewe’s Cloudtilt 2.0 sneakers are this quarter’s hottest product, according to Lyst’s latest Index report.

In the second quarter this year, the collaboration drove a 308% spike in searches for On after its May release.

The sneaker is part of the brands’ fifth capsule, which also included ready-to-wear with a collection of technical activewear, statement outerwear, as well as its footwear for both men and women. The Cloudtilt 2.0 features a new Loewe x On’s joint logo, a multi-layer upper composed of performance mesh and woven textiles, and enhancements such as rubber toe-guards, extra padding on the tongue and shoe collar and a branded heel loop. Colorways include black, tan, green, blue, pink, and neon yellow. The limited-edition style retails for $550.

Additionally, Loewe replaced Miu Miu and Prada to reclaim the title of hottest brand
in the world, a position it last held in Q2 2023. The ongoing buzz comes from continued collaborations, celebrity moments, along with the release of the “Challengers” movie, with costumes designed by creative director Jonathan Anderson and select items available to shop through Loewe.

On, meanwhile, continues to gain popularity among the fashion crowd. The Swiss-label is seeing a 31% increase in searches month-over-month.

The second hottest product in Q2 is another sneaker: the Adidas SL72 OG. The retro track shoe was first released in 1972 and is making a comeback following the success of another heritage Adidas style, the Samba.

Also topping the list of Lyst’s hottest products between April and June were Cos’ Fisherman sandals and Dries Van Noten’s suede sneakers.

In Q1, the Miu Miu x New Balance 530 SL sneaker collaboration took the top prize.

Miu Miu’s New Balance Sneaker Collab Was the ‘Hottest’ Shoe in Q1, According to Lyst https://footwearnews.com/business/business-news/miu-miu-new-balance-top-collaboration-lyst-2024-q1-1203618595/ Wed, 24 Apr 2024 16:50:33 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203618595

The Miu Miu x New Balance 530 SL sneaker collaboration was the hottest product in the first quarter of 2024, according to Lyst’s latest Index report.

The global fashion shopping app showed that Miu Miu’s collaborative style with New Balance sold out in hours, resulting in Q1’s hottest product overall, and the top shoe on this quarter’s list.

Right now, Miu Miu is outperforming the market, delivering brand heat plus cultural weight that sets it apart in the eyes of the fashion shopper, Lyst said. This surge in popularity has led Miu Miu to reclaim the number one spot for “hottest brand” in the quarter, jostling Prada into second position.

According to the report, searches for Miu Miu increased 8 percent this quarter, with three Miu Miu pieces in the top 10 hottest products — a first for any Lyst Index brand. The brand has also seen searches from male shoppers increase 88 percent over the last three months.

As for New Balance, it ranked number 15 on the latest hottest brands index – notably the only major athletic brand in the top 20 in the first quarter. Aside from its sneaker with Miu Miu, New Balance also saw brand heat around its loafer with Junya Watanabe as well as the launch of its “Reconsidered” resale program.

As for more top footwear styles, Alaïa’s jeweled ballet flats was the second hottest shoe of the quarter, coming in at number four overall on the list. Alaïa makes its debut in The Lyst Index hottest brands ranking, with searches spiking 49 percent over the last three months. First released in 2022, the brand’s often sold-out, crystal-studded Mary Janes continue to drive global demand, with their recognizable design causing a halo effect trend for the shoe category.

Searches for embellished flats are up 43 percent this quarter, Lyst said. This is the second appearance for Alaïa’s Mary Janes in the hottest products ranking, following a fishnet version back in Q2 2023.

Searches around creative director appointments were also reflected in this quarter’s index. Following the announcement that Alessandro Michele would be taking over the reins as creative director at Valentino, searches for the brand spiked 84 percent week-on-week on Lyst. Meanwhile, demand is creeping up for Gucci following Sabato de Sarno’s second presentation in February, with a 10 percent increase in shoppers searching for Gucci accessories on Lyst.

The formula behind the index considers Lyst’s database of 200 million shoppers and their online behavior, including searches on and off platform, product views and sales. Miu Miu’s Kitten Heels & Adidas Originals’ Country OG Sneakers Were the Two ‘Hottest’ Shoes in Q4, According to Lyst https://footwearnews.com/business/business-news/miu-miu-kitten-heels-adidas-originals-country-og-sneakers-lyst-hottest-products-1203585531/ Wed, 31 Jan 2024 16:29:48 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203585531 If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Footwear News may receive an affiliate commission.

Miu Miu’s kitten heels and Adidas Originals’ Country OG sneakers were the top two shoes in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to Lyst’s latest Index report.

The global fashion shopping app showed that Miu Miu’s kitten heels were the third hottest product (and top shoe) in the quarter and played into the season’s trend for cherry red. Searches for the style spiked 49 percent in November, Lyst noted.

Staying with footwear, Adidas Originals’ Country OG sneakers came in fourth position in its hottest products index. As the only pair of sneakers ranked on the hottest product list, the growing popularity in metallic silver accessories led to a 14 percent increase in searches for the ‘70s running sneaker.

Prada’s logo loafers and Ugg’s Tasman slippers also made the hottest products list, ranking fifth and sixth, respectively. This news marks Ugg’s reentry into the Lyst index, securing the 17th position on the hottest brands list. The brand was last in the top 20 in the fourth quarter of 2022.

More footwear highlights came via star running brand On. According to Lyst, searches for On increased 592 percent this quarter, making it one of the company’s “breakout brands” in the period. Lyst added that the On x Loewe sneaker has emerged as the athletic brand’s top trending product.

Other breakout brands on the index include Victoria Beckham, which saw searches spike 68 percent in October following the release of the “Beckham” documentary on Netflix, and Ralph Lauren, which has been “embraced” for its understated quiet luxury and preppy styles.

As for Q4’s hottest brands, Lyst noted that Prada is the hottest brand in the world for the third time since the fourth quarter of 2022. With searches up 41 percent year-on-year, the brand’s cohesive collections are driving demand worldwide. Lyst said.

Plus, other brands like Moncler (+2), Balenciaga (+2), Burberry (+1) and Jacqumeus (+1) all moved upwards within the Top 10 in the past quarter.

The Row made its debut in the Lyst index Top 20 this quarter, with searches increasing 93 percent in the period. What’s more, the brand’s Margaux bag was the number one hottest product of the quarter, with searches for the hard-to-find tote bag spiking 63 percent this quarter and are up 198 percent year-on-year.

These Are the World’s Most-Wanted Shoes, According to Lyst’s Q3 Index https://footwearnews.com/fashion/fashion-news/lyst-index-q3-birkenstock-margiela-shoes-miu-miu-flats-list-1203538811/ Wed, 11 Oct 2023 15:40:47 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203538811 If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Footwear News may receive an affiliate commission.

Lyst has officially revealed the top fashion products in the world — and shoes are at the forefront.

The analysis platform’s quarterly Lyst Index — which showcases the top products and brands internationally, based on shopping searches and sales — revealed that Miu Miu is the world’s top brand for 2023, followed by Loewe, Prada and Bottega Veneta. In a notable addition to the list, Ferragamo has entered the Index’s Top 20 section since the Index was first released in 2018.

Where specific products are concerned, Maison Margiela’s Tabi Mary Jane shoes topped the world’s list of most-desired products — notably following a 342% rise in searches after this fall’s viral “Tabi Swiper” series of TikTok videos. Miu Miu’s logo cardigan took the second spot as the most-wanted product, with other entries including COS’ quilted bag and Birkenstock’s Arizona sandals — particularly from a 110% rise in searches 48 hours after the premiere of Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” following a viral scene featuring the double-strapped sandals.

Below, discover more of the notable mentions from The Lyst Index’s third quarter of 2023.

Maison Margiela’s Tabi Mary Janes soar from viral ‘Tabi Swiper’ TikTok videos

Maison Margiela has taken the top spot as Lyst’s most-wanted product around the world. The cult-favorite style, featuring its namesake split-toe silhouette, particularly rose in popularity in September following the spread of the “Tabi Swiper” videos on TikTok from designer Alexis Dougè. A 342% rise in searches for the shoe, which features the split-toe shape within a leather Mary Jane-style ballet flat, soon followed.

Miu Miu is the most-wanted brand in the world

Miu Miu took the title of the top brand in the world for Lyst in the Index’s third quarter, rising three spots to overtake Loewe, which previously topped the list in 2023’s second quarter. This season, the Miuccia Prada-helmed brand experienced a 16% rise in searches, while demand also rose for its Arcadie handbags and hit ballet flats — which have also earned a celebrity following from stars including Bella Hadid, Ariana Grande and Vanessa Hudgens in 2023.

Birkenstock’s Arizona sandals go viral from “Barbie”

Birkenstock’s Arizona sandals returned to The Lyst Index this season, marking their third time being featured in the list. The moment is primarily owed to the shoe having two notable cameos in Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” film — which led to a 110% rise in searches within 48 hours of the film’s release.

Martine Rose x Nike’s sneaker mules get a boost from the Women’s World Cup

Nike and Martine Rose’s ongoing collaboration included the hybrid square-toed Shoe MR4 mules, complete with sneaker-like fronts in vibrant ombré hues. The shoe style, which dropped in the pair’s fall 2023 collection shortly before the women’s World Cup, experienced a 70% rise in searches to make it the quarter’s fourth most-wanted product.

New Balance’s 550 sneakers receive the “Taylor Swift effect” from Travis Kelce courtship

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s emerging relationship provided a strong boost for New Balance — whose 550 sneakers Swift wore in a black, white and red colorway to Kelce’s game in September, marking one of the first confirmed sightings of the celebrity couple. Searches for the sneakers rose by 44% following the occasion, and have since sold out — simultaneously in tandem with Kelce’s jersey sales rising by 400%, deeming the high demand as the “Taylor Swift effect.”

Loewe Is the ‘World’s Hottest Brand,’ According to Lyst; Nike Falls Six Spots to No. 18 https://footwearnews.com/fashion/trends/loewe-lyst-worlds-hottest-brand-1203494028/ Wed, 19 Jul 2023 07:00:00 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203494028

Loewe is the hottest brand in the world for the second quarter of 2023, according to the latest Lyst Index report.

In fact, the fashion technology company said on Wednesday that Loewe saw searches rise 19 percent this quarter. Lyst added that the brand’s “commitment to craftsmanship and creativity” has succeeded in capturing the imagination of different cohorts of customers, driving brand heat that’s backed up by surging demand and sales for hero products online.

The Spanish luxury brand also landed on Lyst’s Hottest Products Index with its Anagram tank top, spotted on Kylie Jenner, coming in as the quarter’s number one hottest product. Loewe’s raffia tote bag comes in fourth position in hottest products this quarter. Years after its initial release — and despite an increasingly crowded market — the Loewe basket bag has secured cult accessory status, Lyst said, with demand for the Paula’s Ibiza editions spiking again thanks to “smart seasonal updates on the timeless design.”

Other brands seeing success this quarter include Versace, up five places to No. 3, Bottega Veneta up one place to No. 5, Saint Laurent up three places to No. 6 and Dior up one place to No. 10. Last quarter’s hottest brand, Prada, fell one position to No. 2.

The tech company noted in the report that Versace is among the “fastest risers” for a second quarter in a row, rocketing another five spots up to its highest ranking since The Lyst Index began.

Less positive news came for Nike, however. Lyst reported that the athletic giant fell six places in the period from No. 12 to No. 18. But, Nike collaborator Jacquemus climbs four places into 15th place thanks to a viral marketing campaign for Le Bambino bags, and Louis Vuitton climbs two places into 11th position following Pharrell Williams’ highly anticipated debut menswear show.

And, after a dramatic drop down the hottest brands ranking over the last two quarters, Balenciaga climbs back up two spaces into 16th position, having made a big return on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. What’s more, Skims and JW Anderson remain in 17th and 20th place having both entered the top 20 for the first time in the first quarter.

Aside from the hottest brands, Lyst also revealed today that four footwear styles earned spots on its top 10 hottest products for Q2.

Onitsuka Tiger’s Mexico 66

The highest-ranked shoe on the Index is Onitsuka Tiger’s Mexico 66 sneaker, which earned the No. 2 spot. According to Lyst, the style generated over 113 million views on TikTok in the period as Y2K-inspired trends continue to spark excitement among Gen Z shoppers. The Mexico 66 model has also been spotted on Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber.

Following the Onitsuka Tiger style is the New Balance x Aime Leon Dore collaborations at No. 5 in the hottest products index. The final two shoe styles to make the index are Alaia’s fishnet flats at No. 7 and The Row’s City flip flops at No. 8. Lyst noted that the growing popularity of “quiet luxury” during the second quarter led to Alaia and The Row’s entrance onto the hottest products index – along with Loro Piana’s baseball cap at No. 10.

Indeed, the quiet luxury trend heavily influenced this quarter’s rankings. According to Lyst, two “breakout brands” saw “rapid trajectory” in the period due to the trend. This could be seen most at Loro Piana, which benefitted from the “Succession” effect this quarter. Searches for Loro Piana are up 35 percent this quarter, Lyst said. The brand’s trending product for the quarter was the Babouche suede mules and was seen on celebrities like Gigi Hadid and Gweneth Paltrow.

Posse also saw a boost related to quiet luxury. Lyst reported that the brand saw a 31 percent rise in searches for its nods to “the most talked about trend of the quarter.” The Alice linen mini dress was the brand’s trending product and the brand was seen on celebrities like Sofia Richie, Selena Gomez and Lily Aldridge.

The formula that informs The Lyst Index, which is fashion technology company’s quarterly ranking of fashion’s hottest brands and products, takes into account its shoppers’ behavior. This includes, Lyst explained, searches on and off platform, product views and sales. It also incorporates social media mentions, activity and engagement statistics worldwide, over a three month period.

Salomon, Adidas and the MSCHF Big Red Boots Make Lyst’s Hottest Products List https://footwearnews.com/fashion/trends/adidas-salomon-maison-margiella-lyst-hottest-products-1203451050/ Wed, 19 Apr 2023 13:45:17 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203451050

Three footwear styles earned spots in the top 10 hottest products for Q1 2023 in the latest Lyst Index report.

The highest-ranked shoe on fashion technology company’s Hottest Products for Q1 2023 list is the polarizing MSCHF Big Red Boots, which earned the No. 4 spot.

Following the Big Red Boots is the Adidas Gazelle, which came in at No. 7. According to Lyst, the Adidas Gazelle earned the spot largely because of celebrity endorsement, with wearers including Prince Harry, Harry Styles, Kate Moss and Helena Christensen. What’s more, Lyst said the style is the most searched sneaker of 2023.

The third and final shoe to make the list is the MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon Cross High, which earned the No. 10 spot. The look was famously worn by Rihanna in February during her Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.

Aside from the hottest products, Lyst revealed Prada is the hottest brand in the world for the second consecutive quarter, with searches up 22% in Q1. The brand’s sunglasses, Lyst said, have seen the biggest category increase with searches increasing 56% over the quarter.

Also noteworthy was the climb of Miu Miu — a New Balance collaborator — which earned the No. 2 spot on the hottest brands list. Lyst said this is the brand’s highest ranking since The Lyst Index began.

Athletic giant Nike also made the hottest brands list, coming in at No. 12.

The formula that informs The Lyst Index, which is fashion technology company’s quarterly ranking of fashion’s hottest brands and products, takes into account its shoppers’ behavior. This includes, Lyst explained, searches on and off platform, product views and sales. These Dr. Martens Boots, Prada Heels & Crocs Make Lyst’s Hottest Products List https://footwearnews.com/fashion/trends/dr-martens-boots-lyst-hottest-products-1203401803/ Thu, 02 Feb 2023 13:00:54 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203401803

In the latest installment of The Lyst Index report, Prada tops the list as the hottest brand in the world for the Q4 period.

According to the report, searches for the luxury label were up 37% in the fourth quarter. The Prada logo slingbacks, specifically, was a standout.

Dr. Marten’s also entered The Lyst Index Hottest Products list with its Leonore Chelsea boots coming in at No. 3. The report suggested that reviews across retail sites, citing the shoe’s warmth and comfortability, were reasons for its popularity in Q4. The shoes are fur-lined and retail for $180. Searches for the brand were up 51%, as well.

Ugg’s mini boots also get an honorable mention as the brand enters the Lyst Index for the first time. Ugg, which saw an 82% spike over the holidays, stepped into 15th place  — with over 1.2 billion mentions on TikTok.

Another shoe moment comes from Crocs and designer Salehe Bembury. It’s the second Crocs collaboration to enter the Lyst Index, with the Pollux clogs ranking as the tenth hottest product. The latest style, “Sasquatch,” marked the designer’s first all-black option at $90.

Within the holiday season, party dressing saw an uptick, too. The popular 16Arlington’s Solaria dress — worn by Hailey Bieber, Jodie Turner-Smith, Paloma Elsesser and Olivia Wilde — was the fourth hottest product of the quarter. Birkenstock’s Boston Clog Is the Hottest Shoe of the Year, According to Lyst https://footwearnews.com/fashion/trends/birkenstock-boston-clog-hottest-shoe-of-the-year-lyst-1203374253/ Tue, 29 Nov 2022 17:51:17 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203374253

From Barbiecore to miniskirts, this year has been filled with new trends and hot products. As far as footwear goes, however, one style reigned supreme.

According to global fashion shopping platform Lyst’s Year in Fashion report, Birkenstock’s Boston Clog topped the list of shoes. The annual report that analyzes data from its 200 million users found that the Boston Clog is the hottest shoe of the year, with searches increasing 593% in the first six months of 2022.

The heritage style that was first introduced by Birkenstock in 1979 has since garnered a following, particularly with a Gen Z audience, after going viral on TikTok. Throughout the year, the $155 shoe then sold out at multiple retailers and in multiple colorways, and could be seen on celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber, Dakota Johnson and more.

Plus, the silhouette laid the groundwork for FN’s collaboration of year featuring Manolo Blahnik for Birkenstock. The two-part collab was a sell-out event and centered around Birkenstock’s iconic Arizona and Boston styles, which were given a Manolo makeover in fuchsia and blue velvet and sparkling crystal buckles.

Another major collab of the year, according to Lyst, was Jacquemus x Nike. The report found over 50,000 searches in 24 hours following the announcement of the collaboration between the French house and athletic company. For the June release, the collaboration sold out within a few minutes, and after the collection dropped, searches for Jacquemus increased 55% on Lyst.
