On Thursday, the Golden Globes announced that stand-up comedian Jo Koy will be hosting the 81st Annual Golden Globe® Awards, which will air live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ on Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. ET.
This will mark Koy’s first time hosting the show, bringing his charm and wit to the broadcast. Koy is widely recognized as a leading stand-up comedian, actor and author. Koy is also best known for his work on the film “Easter Sunday” alongside fellow actor Eva Noblezada.
“We are thrilled to have Jo host the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards and bring his infectious energy and relatable humor to kick off Hollywood’s award season. “I’ve stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special. I’m so excited to be hosting the Golden Globes this year,” said Koy. “This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud. Mahal Kita (Google it)!”

The breakout Canadian star will be performing her hit song “Greedy” from her sophomore album “Think Later,” which will be released on Dec. 8 via RCA Records in advance of her 2024 world tour. Along with McRae, Mariah Carey will put on an Aspen-inspired and surprise-filled performance of “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which will mark the first time in history the iconic single has ever been performed on an awards show. During the ceremony, Carey will also be honored with the Billboard Chart Achievement Award for the chart-topping holiday hit.
K-pop supergroup Stray Kids will also perform during the award show. The boy group will join acts like David Guetta and Bebe Rexha, Karol G, NewJeans, Peso Pluma and Morgan Wallen. Stray Kids will be performing their hit song “S-Class” and their new song “Lalalala,” from the group’s 2023 EP, “Rock-Star.”
Stray Kids debuted in 2018 under JYP Entertainment with their song “District 9.” The boyband comprises eight members, including Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. The K-pop act rose to prominence with the release of their hit song “Miroh” in 2019.
Since then, the band has played some of the biggest stages in the world, including Lollapalooza. Beyond Felix, Stray Kids’ Hyunjin was recently tapped as Versace’s brand ambassador.
Announced on Monday, Morgan Wallen will perform a hometown rendition of “98 Braves” and former ‘98 Braves players will watch as Wallen takes the stage at the team’s current MLB home field, Truist Park, in Atlanta.
Wallen, this year’s leading BBMAs male finalist, is up for 16 awards with 17 entries, including Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, and Top Hot 100 Artist.
In addition to Wallen, K-pop supergroup NewJeans and Bebe Rexha will also perform. This marks NewJeans’ U.S. award show debut. They will perform their hit songs “Super Shy” and “Omg.” The group is up for five awards, including Top K-Pop Album, Top Global K-Pop Artist, Top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Artist and Top Global K-Pop Song.
NewJeans is a South Korean girl group comprising Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein formed under Hybe Entertainment. The group officially debuted in 2022 with the single “Attention” and has since risen to superstardom thanks to tracks like “Hype Boy” and “Super Shy.” All the girls are brand ambassadors for prestigious brands, including Gucci, Chanel and Armani Beauty. The “Cookie” singers are just one of many K-pop acts to be given ambassadorship status by a prominent brand.
Meanwhile, Bebe Rexha will be joined onstage by David Guetta. They both have collaborated on “I’m Good (Blue),” which was nominated for Top Collaboration, Top Billboard Global (excl. U.S.) Song and Top Dance/Electronic Song.
Singer Peso Pluma was also confirmed as one of the performers. Pluma is currently nominated at this year’s awards for five trophies, including the Top New Artist, Top Latin Artist and Top Latin Album honors.

Mariah Carey will put on a Christmas extravaganza performance at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards on Nov. 19. The “Emotions” songstress will take the BBMAs stage for an Aspen-inspired and surprise-filled performance of “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which will mark the first time in history the iconic single has ever been performed on an awards show.
During the ceremony, Carey will also be honored with the Billboard Chart Achievement Award for the chart-topping holiday hit.
The hitmaker’s performance is just one of many that will take place during the highly-anticipated award ceremony, joining the likes of David Guetta, Bebe Rexha, Karol G, NewJeans, Peso Pluma, Stray Kids and Morgan Wallen.
Carey is currently on her “Merry Christmas One and All!” tour that will wrap on Dec. 17 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The tour began on Wednesday in Highland, Calif., and spans 13 dates.
“All I Want For Christmas Is You” was released in 1994 and has since become the unofficial anthem of the holiday season. The mega-hit finally reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 song charts in 2019 and has reached number one in the following years. The aforementioned milestone has cemented Carey as the unofficial “Queen of Christmas.”
As of November 2023, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has spent 12 total weeks at No. 1. It’s only the second holiday song to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 after “The Chipmunk Song” in 1958. The festive song became Mariah’s 19th Hot 100 No. 1 in 2019, extending her record for the most No. 1s of any solo artist.

“Euphoria” and “The Last of Us” star Storm Reid is undoubtedly one of Gen Z’s ultimate trendsetters.
Her noteworthy red-carpet moments and longtime relationship with New Balance made her the right fit for FN’s Style Influencer of the Year honor. Reid will take home the honor at the 2023 FN Achievement Awards on Nov. 29 in New York.
The actress, who was nominated for an Emmy for her work on the HBO series “The Last of Us,” has been a New Balance brand ambassador since October 2021 and has starred in numerous campaigns for the athletic brand.
In August, the “The Nun II” star and New Balance took their relationship to the next level with the launch of Reid’s first signature sneaker with the brand, the New Balance x Storm Reid CT302.
Reid, who is an avid sneaker fan, told FN in an exclusive interview in July that the process of creating her first shoe with New Balance was “surreal” as she feels “blessed” to be a part of the company’s family.
“I’ve always loved sneakers,” Reid admitted. “Actually, my ultimate dream was to design my own sneaker one day. But I had no idea this would happen so soon. I thought this would come later down the line. But I’m very grateful and excited about this opportunity.”
Aside from her New Balance tie-up, the rising Hollywood star has also collaborated on collections with other stars like basketball player Stephen Curry and brands like PacSun.
Reid, who often works with stylist Jason Bolden, is known for her unique fashion sense. She’s often seen gracing red carpets in statement-making looks from designers like Jonathan Simkhai, Prada, Moschino, Paris Georgia and Acne Studios with shoes from Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Schutz and Coach.
With this award, Reid joins a roster of major style stars. Previous FN Style Influencer of the Year award winners include Cardi B, Law Roach, Hailey Bieber, J Balvin and Alexa Chung.
Reid also joins other 2023 FNAA honorees, including Icon Award honoree Jessica Simpson; Sam and Libby Edelman for the Lifetime Achievement Award; Skechers USA Inc. co-founder and president Michael Greenberg as Person of the Year; Roger Vivier’s Gherardo Felloni as Designer of the Year; Shoe of the Year, the Adidas Samba; and Kith as Retailer of the Year.
With more than two decades in the entertainment business and nearly as many years in the footwear industry, Jessica Simpson has long been known as celebrity fashion’s queen of shoes.
Now, Simpson will be honored with the Icon Award at the 2023 Footwear News Achievement Awards on Nov. 29 in New York.
The award will celebrate the star’s long career in footwear and fashion through the Jessica Simpson Collection brand, which she first launched in 2005. Partnering with industry veteran Vince Camuto (and mother Tina), Simpson’s initial footwear deal became the catalyst for a billion-dollar company that now includes a variety of categories and licenses within fashion, accessories and beauty.
“We’ve documented every step of Jessica’s career — from reality star to business mogul. In an era when celebrity brands come and go, she’s proven she has staying power,” said Michael Atmore, editorial director of FN and chief brand officer of Fairchild Media Group. “Together with her mother Tina, Jessica is embarking on the next big chapter of her evolving brand story. For all these reasons and many more, we are thrilled to bestow her with the industry’s highest honor.”
In 2021, Simpson and her mother officially reacquired full ownership of the brand from Sequential Brands Group, a move that helped the duo to launch new categories and build out the Jessica Simpson Collection’s e-commerce efforts, bringing the site to profitability in just two years. The brand continues its longstanding footwear licensing partnership with Camuto Group to this day.
Simpson is the third honoree to receive the Icon Award at the annual awards show — Iris Apfel was honored in 2016; and Kathy, Nicky and Paris Hilton took home the prize as a trio at the 2021 FNAAs.
Simpson also joins other 2023 FNAA honorees, including Sam and Libby Edelman for the Lifetime Achievement Award; Skechers USA Inc. co-founder and president Michael Greenberg as Person of the Year; Roger Vivier’s Gherardo Felloni as Designer of the Year; Shoe of the Year, the Adidas Samba; and Kith as Retailer of the Year.

When the star arrived to the awards show, she hit the red carpet wearing a Vetements x Juicy Couture ensemble straight from the spring ’17 runway. She paired the look with a black-and-white pair of Fenty Puma Creepers.
Inside the event, Rihanna was seen mixing and mingling with actress Dascha Polanco as well as actor Cuba Gooding Jr., who were also in attendance.
During her speech at the awards ceremony in New York, Rihanna said that the honor made her “proud to be a woman and proud to be a young woman from Barbados, especially to come to America and just do this by default just because I liked to wear a certain style of shoe.”
Rihanna credited friend and collaborator Jahleel Weaver, who introduced her at the time to Billy Walsh, Mr. Completely and Puma. “I would literally send them my sneakers one by one and say, ‘Can you creep this out for me?'” she said on the inspiration behind the style.
“I wanted this shoe to be part of the Fenty brand. I wanted it to be the first thing people saw because that’s what I was into at the time,” said Rihanna. “I didn’t expect people to love it the way that I do.”
