Jessica Simpson has revealed the fall 2024 campaign for her namesake brand. The “Rolling in Style” collection includes a plethora of shoes, ranging from platform sandals to metallic boots.

In an interview with People magazine, Simpson explained, “There’s a rock and roll western vibe that runs through the pieces of this collection.” She elaborated on the footwear featured in her latest drop and how her passions for fashion and music intertwine.

“If I dress the part of what I am feeling artistically I am better able to express myself in the words and music I am writing,” she said. “…Lots of fringe, lots of turquoise, high heels and lots of slip dresses, short and long! I kind of created my own style based on the songs I am singin’.”

With the western theme in mind, there is no shortage of boots in Simpson’s new collection. “I love boots and this season we have a lot of elevated styles and metallics that I am obsessed with,” she told the magazine. “The special occasion shoes are sparkly and chic, perfect for all of our holiday parties and celebrations.”

Inspired by her experience recording in Nashville, Simpson modeled the new looks at the Bellasco Theater in Los Angeles. In a post she shared to social media, she again acknowledged how her musical and sartorial pursuits merge.

“This moment warms my heart and connects the melodies, lyrics, and self expressive threads and souls like artistic freedom should…bringin’ fashion into my new music phase of life and music into my new phase of timeless fashion – let the good times roll.”

Dress Shoe Sales Were Down at DBI — But Jessica Simpson’s Brand Gained Traction https://footwearnews.com/business/business-news/dress-shoe-dbi-jessica-simpson-outperforming-1203687530/ Wed, 11 Sep 2024 20:30:30 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203687530

Sales of dress shoes and boots were challenged at Designer Brands Inc. in the second quarter. But the retailer’s Jessica Simpson brand still managed to see strong results.

“We are seeing a lot of traction with Jessica Simpson at the moment,” said DBI chief financial officer Jared Poff in Wednesday call with analysts. “And ironically, that’s a dress-focused brand, but she very much has a vibe and a kind of aesthetic that right now is really resonating. So, we’re doing quite well with that brand.”

In the second quarter, the Jessica Simpson brand saw high double-digit sales increases. Wholesale distribution was up 70 percent in the quarter. According to DBI chief executive officer Doug Howe, the brand “sustained the momentum” it saw in the first quarter and “continues to appeal to customers for its colorful and unique stock.”

The standout performance was at odds with a generally challenged dress category for DBI in Q2. Overall, the DSW parent company said its penetration in dress and seasonal footwear has declined from close to 60 percent in 2017 to about 49 percent today. As such, the company said it expects boots sales to be down in the double digits compared to the prior year as seasonal and dress penetration continues to shrink. Meanwhile, penetration in athletic and athleisure has grown from 32 percent in 2017 to 42 percent today, buoyed by a revived pipeline of products from Nike.

In the company’s portfolio of owned brands, strong sales Jessica Simpson and Topo Athletic are expected to balance out declines from the broader DTC business, making for flat sales overall in the segment.

Jessica Simpson women’s footwear line is licensed through the DBI-owned Camuto Group as part of a long-term partnership. In 2021, Simpson and her mother Tina Simpson officially re-acquired full ownership of The Jessica Simpson Lifestyle Brand after Sequential, which bought the majority share from Camuto Group in 2015, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Camuto Group still licenses the brand.

DBI downgraded its 2024 outlook after it delivered fiscal second quarter earnings and sales results that fell short of expectations on Wednesday. Net sales for the DSW parent company decreased 2.6 percent to $771.9 million in the second quarter and comparable sales decreased 1.4 percent in the period. Adjusted net income was $17.1 million, with adjusted diluted EPS of 29 cents.

Jessica Simpson Sends Her Kids Off to School Wearing Platform Animal Print Boots https://footwearnews.com/shoes/womens-footwear/jessica-simpson-animal-print-platform-boots-1203683713/ Thu, 05 Sep 2024 19:27:07 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203683713 If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Footwear News may receive an affiliate commission.

Jessica Simpson is sending her children off to start a new school year. In family photos she posted to social media in acknowledgement of the milestone, Simpson wore animal print platform boots with a vibrant green dress.

While Simpson has no shortage of animal print shoes under her namesake fashion banner, she appeared to be wearing a pair of jaguar print platform boots from Roberto Cavalli, a brand known for featuring that particular pattern in its creations.

The shoe features a round platform in front and a tall tapered heel in the back, both of which make a bold statement in addition to the beige and black animal print itself. Additional signature Cavalli details include a Tiger Tooth silver pendant on the side zipper and Mirror Snake hardware. The boots typically retail for $1,204 from Roberto Cavalli but are currently marked down to $785.

Simpson styled the eye-catching shoes with a shiny green slip dress evoking “Brat” summer — or potentially ringing in “Brat” fall as the change of seasons nears. She also wore a cropped lace-trimmed black layer and several necklaces and bracelets. Meanwhile, her oversized brown and black patterned sunglasses subtly picked up her boots.

Simpson is a noted fan of a wildlife-inspired shoe. In 2022, she stepped out in a similar pair of boots from Saint Laurent — these shoes featured a platform and a substantial block heel. Her own label offers a range of animal print shoes, from wedges to pumps to boots.

In her personal style, the multi-hyphenate appreciates a platform boot; she recently wore a dramatic glossy white pair from Bottega Veneta with a rose-patterned catsuit and fuzzy jacket. A veteran of the fashion industry, Simpson was honored with the Icon Award at the Footwear News Achievement Awards in 2023. More recently, she released a western-inspired collection for spring 2024.

Jessica Simpson Wears Fuzzy Coat, Halter Catsuit and White Chunky Platform Boots to Close Out Summer https://footwearnews.com/fashion/celebrity-style/jessica-simpson-bottega-veneta-chunky-platform-boots-1203680668/ Tue, 27 Aug 2024 19:20:56 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203680668

Jessica Simpson doesn’t care about the weather. The entrepreneur posted photos of one of her latest looks on Instagram on Monday. In it, she wore a fuzzy coat, a floral printed catsuit and chunky, white platform boots.

The look caught considerable attention for the halter catsuit. The piece is from Saint Laurent and features a rose-print. Seemingly 1970s inspired, it hugs tight to Simpson’s body and allows the straps of what seems to be a red bra to show on her shoulders. She accessorized with a fuzzy white faux fur coat and large turquoise rings and bracelets.

She also wore large gold earrings, practically disappearing into her long blonde hair done in a slightly messy half up, half down style by Chris Dylan.

For shoes, Simpson went big: the star reached for a pair of white platform ankle boots from Bottega Veneta. The shoes feature a full side zip to slip in and out of. They also feature a sizeable square platform with a flat front for additional height that does not require a heightened (and thus uncomfortable) pitch.

One of the most distinguishable parts of the shoe is the thick, curved heel. The heel measures 5.5 inches and includes a platform of just over two inches. Bottega sells a variety of boots including the curved heels included the Canalazzo boot styles as well as the Tex styles which come in a variety of heights.

Simpson is a noted fan of platform silhouettes. Owner of Jessica Simpson Footwear, the business woman has been spotted in platform styles multiple times including at the 2023 Footwear News Achievement Awards where she wore a strappy metallic platform shoe. That year, she was honored with the icon award.

The spring 2024 collection from Jessica Simpson harps on the western trend.

Jessica Simpson: ‘Country Has Never Gone Out of Style,’ & More Takeaways From Her Western-Inspired Spring ’24 Collection https://footwearnews.com/fashion/fashion-news/jessica-simpson-spring-2024-collection-interview-1203618894/ Wed, 24 Apr 2024 20:36:39 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203618894 If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Footwear News may receive an affiliate commission.

For Jessica Simpson, country has never gone out of style. “It’s my roots,” she told FN.

As cowboy core continues to rule the runways, festival season, music, and more, the entrepreneur is leaning into the Western trend for her Jessica Simpson Collection spring ’24 campaign.

Simpson can be seen starring in the ads, wearing her signature denim shorts and a cropped button-up shirt paired with tall suede brown Western embellished boots.

Jessica Simpson’s spring ’24 campaign was shot in Malibu, Calif.

Western wear, however, has been key to the brand ethos ever since its debut. Simpson’s first red “Daisy” cowboy boot, which launched in 2005, has became iconic to the brand, after all.

“I have always loved to incorporate Western details and my Texas roots into both my personal wardrobe and the Jessica Simpson Collection,” she said, noting her first pair of cowboy boots she received when she was just 3 years old (they were red, of course). “I am excited that Western elements are having a moment right now, but for me, it has never gone away. I’ll pick a fringe jacket, turquoise belt and cowboy boots over just about anything else. You can mix and match country style elements with everything.”

As summer approaches, Simpson, who played Daisy Duke in “The Dukes of Hazzard” and is famously known for her cutoffs, said denim shorts are still a personal closet staple.

“I like to style my cut-offs with any and everything — from an oversized t-shirt and some slides around the house to a cute boot and button down, or even a blazer,” said Simpson.

In the campaign, the singer can also be seen modeling turquoise embellished t-strap platform heels as well as a studded embellished wedge.

Simpson said that she’s spending more time in Nashville as of late to work on her music, and it’s also been inspiring her style.

“I love the South. There is such a wisdom and depth to these areas of our country. I can honestly feel the spirit of the place so deep inside my soul. I have been profoundly moved artistically and love to meet all of the local people and get inspiration from their amazing style,” she explained. “From incredible hats to super cool jeans and belts to vintage jewelry and accessories, everything in Nashville has a story, and that how I want our collection to feel.”

As for who inspires Simpson? The footwear mogul said she looks to Dolly Parton as her style (and everything) icon. She said, “Her wardrobe and accessories are simply amazing. but I think what inspires me most is the confidence she wears first and foremost. She has been such an important mentor to me in all ways, and there is no one with more distinct personal style than Dolly.”

Jessica Simpson Takes on Furry Shoe Trend With ‘Yeti’ Boots for Family Celebration https://footwearnews.com/fashion/celebrity-style/jessica-simpson-furry-boots-shoe-trend-1203612287/ Wed, 10 Apr 2024 19:51:05 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203612287

Jessica Simpson embraced the furry shoe trend to celebrate Easter at home with her family. In a recent roundup of photos shared to her Instagram on Tuesday, Simpson can be seen wearing white fur-covered boots featuring a round, oversized silhouette reminiscent of a Yeti.

The “I Think I’m in Love with You” singer is a fan of trendy high heels and platforms, as well as boho boots, often wearing styles from her eponymous shoe line. At the Jam for Janie Grammy Awards Viewing Party in Month, she took the metallic trend to new heights in a pair of sky-high strappy silver platform heels. She wore a similar pair of metallic platforms at the 2023 Footwear News Achievement Awards on Nov. 29, where she was honored with the Icon Award.

Furry Shoe Trend

Bold and fluffy furry shoes were seen across fall 2023 runways, from the vibrantly flocked mules and boots from Shuting Qui to Gucci’s fuzzy moon boots and Burberry’s hairy sandals.

Julia Fox was recently seen wearing wild stilettos covered in long blond hair to promote her new TV series, “OMG Fashun.”

Jessica Simpson Footwear

Simpson originally launched her footwear brand back in 2005 as a collaboration with Vince Camuto. However, the singer and her mother, Tina Simpson, recently regained control of the company in 2021 after Sequential Brands Group Inc, the former parent company, filed for bankruptcy protection. In an exclusive interview with FN in October 2021, Simpson said, “It means the absolute world to me to be able to take over complete ownership of my brand.” The brand is known for colorful and trendy designs, often boasting Simpson’s favored sky-high heels.

Jessica Simpson on the Y2K Fashion Moments That Defined Her Career https://footwearnews.com/fashion/celebrity-style/jessica-simpson-2000s-fashion-1203563676/ Tue, 05 Dec 2023 21:02:10 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1203563676

Pop culture’s current obsession with all things Y2K is nothing new — but it also shows no signs of slowing down. And as more fans look back on Jessica Simpson’s twenty-plus years in the spotlight, from pop princess and reality TV pioneer to footwear mogul and 2023 FNAA Icon Award winner, they are also discovering just how influential the star’s Y2K fashion moments were, then and now.

“I honestly keep everything — too many things,” said Simpson, on the set of her FN cover shoot to celebrate the award. “I feel like Y2K will always come back.”

The star admits that she has not one but two storage units that contain her looks from over the years. Not only has she kept most everything from her career — she also remembers all of the details of where and when she wore the looks.

“I just went back and grabbed stuff. And of course I have to tell everybody everything. ‘And this is what I wore when I went to the bathroom in New York, this one time when this paparazzi tripped,'” the star joked. “I remember the stupidest details of everything. But they all have a story. Maybe I should write it down and do a fashion book or something. You never know.”

Here, Simpson breaks down eight of her most memorable looks from the height of her pop career, which also happened to coincide with the Y2K era’s peak fashion years.

2003 – Michael Kors Runway Show at New York Fashion Week

“I loved it so much because I didn’t have to wear a bra and it was very fashion for me at 23 years old,” said Simpson. “That’s when I actually met Michael Kors and he was so kind and generous to me. He let me take the dress home. It was in my closet until I got pregnant with Maxwell, and I never thought I would lose the weight to wear it again. I actually want it back! I wish I hadn’t given it away!”

2004 – The Reality Tour

“This dress was made by Roberto Cavalli, a very dear friend of mine. He really knew how to dress my body especially for stage. By the end of the tour I was spilling out of this dress and it broke in multiple places, but it hung in all summer somehow. I do still have it, it’s in storage.”

2004 – MTV Video Music Awards “

“This is styled by Rachel Zoe, it’s a Valentino dress. I love the metallic, anything bold but also sophisticated. I loved wearing the short hair with it, I felt like I was giving off a different vibe than most people do at the VMAs.”

2005 – “Dukes of Hazzard” Premiere

2005 – Out in New York City

“I was in my element. I am a jeans girl so if I can dress up jeans in any way, it’s going to be with a corset and a BIG flower. I do still have it. This is a good one to keep.”

2005 – ESPY Awards

This is probably one of my all-time favorite dresses. It is just the most classic dress. I had never worn anything fit and flare before. I love the yellow and the cream, it’s Oscar de la Renta. I remember I could hardly breathe. My favorite part is the accessory – the corsage.”

2005 – MTV Video Music Awards

“This was a big year for me. It’s not really a VMAs look. A lot of people don’t wear shorts. But I was Daisy Duke, so I wore shorts. And it was very scandalous because you could see my lace bra. And now it’s so normal. This is a Y2K top. I don’t know if I still have it. Would I wear it again today? Probably, but not with shorts.”

2006 – Performance for “A Public Affair”

“This was press for my last pop record that I did. I had short hair, I just chopped it all off. I was going through a divorce and I just said take it all off. I just wanted to wear something that was comfortable. I love the color. And then I wore a Jessica Simpson Collection boot. 2006 was a big boot moment, that’s when we started launching a lot of things with the brand. I do still have these boots. I just thought it was fun that you could fold them over. Maybe that will come back one day, but it’s a little Renaissance or something.”

Jessica Simpson may be an icon — but that’s not stopping her from taking some advice from her children.

On the red carpet at the 2023 Footwear News Achievement Awards on Nov. 29 in New York, Simpson shared that her eldest daughter Maxwell helped to pick her outfit for the event.

“I said, ‘Which look do you like?’ There was a black dress, there were a couple others. And she said, ‘Definitely the first one you tried on. It’s always the first one, Mom.’ She’s right. It’s always the first one,” said Simpson of her look, a champagne-hued gown covered in crystals, paired with Jessica Simpson Collection gold platforms (“I’m definitely a platform girl — I want the height but also the comfort”) and a white cropped feather jacket.

The music artist, entrepreneur and winner of the FNAA Icon Award revealed more about what her three children Maxwell, 11, Ace, 10 and Birdie, 4, have taught her, on everything from fashion to sports and social media.

“I’m more interested in what my kids think, because there’s nothing jaded about it. There’s something so wholesome about it. [We are] grasping for that wholesomeness in all of the convoluted social media,” Simpson told FN ahead of winning her award.

The star describes daughter Maxwell as one of her “favorite human beings on the planet” and “effortlessly cool.” She also revealed that the pre-teen is a TikTok wiz. “She is very much into the glow-up stuff, how to better yourself. I had to have her explain it to me the other day, because I thought it was literally putting highlighter on her cheeks,” Simpson said. “She said, ‘Mom, no, it’s your inner glow and how to glow up everything in your life.’ Wow, that’s a beautiful concept. If that’s what you’re learning on TikTok, keep going — but just know, those are all filters.”

Her eldest is also interested in the family business that is the Jessica Simpson Collection, which the star co-founded in 2005 and still runs with her mother Tina Simpson (the mother and daughter bought back the entire company from their partners in 2021).

“Max could absolutely take over the brand,” Simpson said of a potential next-generation moment.

And while her eldest daughter has outgrown her in height and shoe size, Simpson said she is still hanging on to her footwear collection for her youngest.

“I saved all of my shoes, hopefully for Birdie. She’s very petite,” she said.

Her son Ace, meanwhile, seems to lives up to his name. “He aces everything. I don’t know if we manifested that somehow,” she said of her 10-year-old, who was named after the star’s grandfather.

The music artist and fashion mogul revealed that while her son has been trying out various sports, he’s also following in the footsteps of his father, Simpson’s husband Eric Johnson, as a young football player, having already played a scrimmage at a Los Angeles Rams halftime show.

“I was the loudest person in the stadium. I asked him, ‘How are you not nervous?’ And he’s like, ‘Mom, if there’s 60,000 people there, at least 30,000 of them are going to go eat a hot dog at halftime.'”

“All my kids are very confident, which I love,” Simpson continued. “Maybe Eric and I are doing something right, by just allowing them to be themselves and not forcing them to do things that we think they’d be good at.”
