Angelina Jolie brought a classically glamorous look to the New York Film Festival on Sept. 29, attending the premiere of “Maria” in a vintage white gown and red velvet sandals from Aquazzura. She was joined by three of her children—Zahara, Maddox and Pax—who supported her at the event.
Jolie, who plays opera singer Maria Callas in Pablo Lorrain’s latest biopic, proved certain fashion pieces are timeless with her archival Madame Grès gown. The dress featured a flowing, semi-sheer midi skirt and a finely ribbed fitted bodice. It evoked the enchantment of 1950s Hollywood or the ethereal aesthetic associated with the Greek gods.

While the ivory hue of the dress was center stage, red was the actress’ accent of choice for the evening. She made a statement with a striking red lip and tied her makeup look to her platform sandals. Jolie opted for Aquazzura’s Romance Sandal Plateau 130, which retails for $1,150 from the luxury footwear brand.
In a rich red velvet, the shoes featured a caged lattice upper with V-shaped outlines forming a peep-toe design in front, revealing a deep burgundy pedicure. Aligning with her dress, the shoes are also influenced by fashion of the past. Aquazzura says of the Romance Sandal, “Our Romance Plateau Sandals look to the 70s for inspiration with their classic crossover design and towering block heels, balanced by platform soles. Crafted from Merlot velvet with sheer mesh inserts, they’ll become a mainstay in your after-dark wardrobe.”
This is not the first time Jolie has worn Aquazzura shoes while on the “Maria” press circuit. At the Venice Film Festival premiere, the star wore a different platform from the brand, the Sundance Plateau 140, which is a silver metallic heel with a textured material.
In recent news related to the popular footwear brand, it was unveiled earlier this month that Aquazzura’s founder Edgaro Rosario will work on his next capsule collection alongside his longtime friend Alex Rivière.
