As the second footwear pack in their “14XX” line, Dr. Martens will be releasing a three piece collection inspired by the history of industrial workwear on Sept. 26.
Through their 14XX line, Dr. Martens is continuing to explore alternative looks of their traditional silhouettes through the concept of “innovation is deviance.” The Protect Pack collection does just that by taking three iconic models and redesigning them with the wearer in mind, specifically ones looking for exaggerated aesthetics.
Reimagining the 1460 boot, the 1461 shoe and 2976 Chelsea boot with the vision of protection in mind, the entire collection is constructed with a black water-resistant leather upper that features maximalist rubber lace guards that are seen against the vamp and steel toe. Each piece mirrors the other with abrasion-resistant heel panels and black camo collar. The 2976 differentiates itself from the other sets with a zipper closure along the sides of the silhouette. The collection ranges from $240-$280.
To support the collection’s concept, Dr. Martens released a campaign that is set in a hyper-real environment. Inspired by the digital world, the brand focused on the protection of identity and self-expression of that realm with dark settings and eccentric ensembles paired with the shoes.

Dr. Martens was originally founded in 1945 when a 25-year-old soldier and medical doctor, Dr. Klaus Maertens created an air-cushioned sole for the recovery of his broken foot. The original eight hole 1460 boot was the brand’s first model and marketed to Britain’s working class for only 2 euros. Their rugged durability was eventually recognized in the punk rock community and became a symbol for self-expression in the British youth culture. Now, the brand is now globally recognized because of its yellow stitching on a variety of leather footwear styles.
The Protect Pack collection will be available for purchase on the brand’s website starting on Sept. 26.
