Mariah Carey posted a carousel of photos to her Instagram yesterday snapped at the Great Wall of China in Beijing alongside her 13-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan. The caption on the post read, “It really is great” with a butterfly emoji.
In true Carey fashion, the “It’s a Wrap” songstress impressively traversed one of the modern Seven Wonders of the World in a pair of lofty platform mules by Amina Muaddi. The backless sky-high Dalida Plateau Slipper featured jet-black satin uppers that transitioned into peep-toes, thick platform soles and 6-inch pyramid heels.
Carey clearly isn’t afraid of heights, given she’s got a soft spot for lofty footwear. Throughout her career thus far, the performer has often gravitated toward heels fixed with platform soles in order to create the illusion of length and height. Standing at 5′ 9″, the footwear pick allows Carey to look larger than life. Many celebrities including Sofia Vergara, Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande utilize this trick on red carpets and beyond.

On the outfit front, the “Emotions” singer stuck to what she knows best, donning a form-fitted maxi-length dress made of a black mesh fabric. The long-sleeved garment appeared to be layered over a fitted black slip, offering Carey extra coverage. Additionally, the star styled chunky sunglasses and gemstone-encrusted jewelry.
Carey’s penchant for glamour remains unmatched. The mom of two often opts for stiletto-heeled platform sandals and pointed-toe pumps on and off the red carpet from top brands, including Aquazzura, Sophia Webster, Christian Louboutin, and Jimmy Choo. These often include statement-making elements like metallic tones, crystals, and bright colors. Aside from her heels, Carey also favors cozy Ugg boots while off-duty. Carey also launched an extensive collection of footwear with HSN in 2010.
