Dr. Martens Launches Progressive 14XX Collection at Made Strong Pop-Up in New York

Dr. Martens is debuting its new 14XX line, starting with a Beta Pack. The new collection, which aims to take classic Dr. Martens silhouettes to the future, will be available at the brand’s pop-up shop in Brooklyn, New York, on Thursday and Friday.

According to a statement from the brand, 14XX is an initiative powered by a desire to create progressive, experimental designs that push the boundaries of the brand’s previous technical capabilities. Each footwear design featured under the initiative draws inspiration from a deep archive of functional workwear, adapting and interpreting classic Dr. Martens silhouettes like the 1460, 1461 and 2976.

1460 Boots

The footwear featured in the Beta Pack includes two ankle-length boots and one slip-on loafer-esque style. The loafer and one of the ankle-boot styles include utilitarian front-facing zipper closures while another ankle-length style includes classical sleek lace-up closures in black.

Each style includes instantly recognizable details found in many of Dr. Martens’ silhouettes including its yellow stitching and coordinating yellow and black pull tabs for easy on-and-off action. Additionally, each style appears to feature durable and sturdy black leather uppers in a glossy and textural style.

14XX will be launched at a designated tech-driven viewing space built to compliment the innovation’s bold nature.

2976 Boots

Founded in 1947, Dr. Martens is a German-founded British footwear and apparel brand with individuality at its core. The company originally began making humble workwear boots and even sold their wear as gardening shoes at one point. The inventor of Dr. Martens Klaus Marten was a doctor in the German Army during World War II. The brand’s name references the inventor’s former profession.

The shoe style we know today was created in Germany and became a huge part of popular culture. The brand’s iconic yellow-stitched footwear was massive in the grunge and punk scene in the ’90s and has since become a closet staple for many generations.
